Ms Amanda Ooi graduated with LLB Second Class Upper Honours from the University of London in 2014. Thereafter, she proceeded to take the Profession Bar Course and completed the Certificate in Legal Practice in 2016 with Honours.

She then underwent pupillage at Messrs Thomas Philip which focuses exclusively on corporate and civil litigations. During her pupillage, she assisted in complex civil litigations involving listed companies in the oil and gas industries, receivership, tortious negligence disputes as well as dealt with enforcement of civil judgments before the Magistrates, Sessions and High Court.

Upon completing her pupillage, she pursued her LLM (Commercial Law) with the University of Malaya where she specialised in, amongst others, Construction Law, ASEAN Economic Community Law, Marine Insurance Law, Media Law as well as International Business Transaction Law, and passed with Distinction.

In 2019, Amanda was employed as a legal assistant at Messrs Liza Khan &Sankey. During her tenure, she handled a diverse range of cases including commercial litigation & arbitration involving multinational companies, debt recovery matters for listed companies.

Amanda joined the firm as a legal assistant in 2020 and was subsequently promoted to a senior legal assistant in 2023. She has since assisted the Senior Partner and other partners in various areas including human rights works and criminal law, contentious and non-contentious matrimonial disputes, labour law, wills and probate, conveyancing, breach of contract, shareholders’ agreement and disputes, winding-up petitions, bankruptcy, defamation, etc. She has also assisted in the preparation and drafting of corporate agreements including share sale agreements and shareholder agreements.

Amanda also participated and completed the Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights (MCCHR) Seminar Series on Freedom of Thought, Conscience, and Religion for Lawyers in January 2023. She was also one of the panel speakers for Multimedia University’s forum entitled ‘When does life begin: An Insight on Abortion’ which was held in April 2023.
